- poor intake of micronutrients is common
- low BMI, anaemia and micronutrient deficiencies are
  common

•Risk factors for undernutrition include:
- low income – or being in receipt of benefits
- increasing age
- smoking
- alcohol excess but not moderate intake
- illness especially chronic illness
- multiple drug therapy
